Dakota Johnson channeled her breakout trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey with a sheer corset fashion moment at the red carpet premiere of The Lost Daughter at the New York Film Festival yesterday. Johnson paired the Gucci corset with leather pants by the fashion house, Cartier jewelry (including a diamond necklace), and Gianvito Rossi shoes. She wore her hair down in waves.
Johnson spoke to Marie Claire last year about how she approaches her work and goes all in on her projects. “When I work, I’m constantly thinking about the job,” Johnson said. “It takes up so much of my brain. Not all of my projects are only good messages, but all of them have a little bit of something that makes me feel like it’s an okay thing to pour my heart into.”
When it comes to picking projects, “I really don’t have a method, and I don’t want one. It’s very intuitive and emotional,” she said.
Johnson cited films like Notting Hill as inspiring her to want to become an actor. Movies with happy endings like that are rarer today, she observed: “There are not movies made like that anymore. Movies where they take their time and the pacing is more languid and it’s about light-hearted escapism and wishful thinking,” she said. “When I was growing up, I loved those movies so much. They were the reason why I was like, Well, maybe I could be an actress. Maybe I could be a movie star.”
